happy december 1st to my readers :] Its December 1st and days left before xmas day :] there are some preparations or traditions that are done by the filipinos to celebrate xmas' season.
for some, as early as September.. they bring out some christmas ornaments and hung them on their houses. Putting up their christmas trees of different sizes and shape :] The streets are well lit with beautiful and colorful lights :] Midnight malls are opened for all the early shoppers to buy some gifts for their love ones :] so expect huge traffic built up.. sa greenbelt, manila, makati, market market, dv at kung saan saan pa :]
the Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo, for Filipino Catholics the nine day celebration before xmas' is a tradition with deep roots in the country's religious culture. literally, simbang gabi means ``night worship.'' the name comes from the Catholic custom of gathering for the celebrationof the Eucharist in the pre-dawn hours on each of the nine daysbefore Christmas. Hence, this celebration is also known by itspopular Spanish name as the misa de gallo, or mass of the rooster.
I've been practicing this tradition for 6 years :] and its true that if you complete the nine days of the mass, your wish will be granted :} mwehehe, sometimes hindi natutupad.. besides its not the "wish" that i came for. its the sacrifice and my prayers to all that i've been thru in my life :)
